In one line

Influencers and creators can secure a 10-year Golden Visa under the creative-talent category — usually via accreditation, a freelance permit, ~AED 360k/yr income over two years and a degree — with no sponsor and family included.

Of all the ways to live in Dubai, the Golden Visa is the one creators ask about most — and for good reason. It removes the two friction points that plague a mobile career: the need for a sponsor, and the risk of a visa lapsing while you're away shooting. Here's how to get one.

The creative-talent category

Influencers and content creators fall under the Golden Visa's "specialised talents and creative industries" stream, which grants a 10-year renewable residence without a local sponsor. Unlike an ordinary work visa tied to an employer, this is a status tied to you — your standing and record as a creator. It sits alongside the other long-term routes we cover in UAE Golden Visa pathways.

What you need

  • A creative specialisation — a recognised field of content or creative work.
  • A freelance permit — from MOHRE or a UAE free-zone authority.
  • Income evidence — commonly around AED 360,000 a year (~AED 30,000/month) across two consecutive years.
  • Education / recognition — usually a bachelor's degree or equivalent standing.
  • Accreditation — endorsement from the relevant UAE cultural or media authority.

Criteria are assessed case by case and evolve, so the application is as much about how the evidence is presented — portfolio, reach, income, recognition — as about ticking boxes.

No degree? Not always fatal. The creative route weighs accreditation, achievements and standing, so a strong portfolio and record can carry an application even without a traditional degree. It's exactly where a well-built case earns its keep.

Why it fits creators

Three features make it purpose-built for the profile:

  • 10 years, no sponsor — stability without being tied to an employer or agent.
  • Tolerant of travel — it doesn't lapse simply because you spend long stretches abroad, unlike ordinary residence visas (see residency flexibility).
  • Family included — sponsor spouse, children and, subject to conditions, parents.

Golden Visa vs a standard creator visa

A Digital Nomad or free-zone company visa is faster and lighter to get, and is how many creators arrive. The Golden Visa is the upgrade: higher entry bar, but far more durable. The common path is to move first on a company or nomad visa, build the two-year income and accreditation record, and then convert. It also pairs with UAE tax residency for the full tax benefit.

How we help

Neo Legal builds and runs creator Golden Visa applications: eligibility assessment, the freelance permit and accreditation, assembling the income and portfolio evidence, and the family sponsorships — alongside your company, licences and tax residency so the whole relocation is one coordinated piece.
