About Louie.
Louie is an experienced property lawyer with expertise across real estate development, commercial and retail leasing, acquisitions and disposals, contract negotiation, Australian foreign investment (FIRB) applications and conveyancing.
Recent work includes a A$100 million acquisition of six development sites, with advice spanning nomination and additional stamp duty, GST implications, deposit forfeiture risk and statutory charges; complex FIRB strategy and applications for overseas investors acquiring mixed-use land; advising developers on off-the-plan purchaser disputes, including misleading and deceptive conduct and defective works claims; and negotiating retail and commercial leases across office, warehouse, childcare, industrial and retail premises. Louie co-founded the Monash China Law Institute in 2019.
Through the China Desk, Louie acts for Chinese investors whose real estate interests span Australia and the UAE, from Melbourne development sites to Dubai off-plan purchases, working alongside May Wong's Dubai team.
